Annual Garage Sale: Our community garage sale will be held May 3, 4, 5 & 6, 2007. You can get a 4-day permit from the city, and use the permit any or all of the 4 days. The permit is purchased from the Water Department at City Hall. We do allow the signs to be put in your front lawn during this time. We DO NOT allow signs (even garage sales) to be put on our common areas or at the entrances.
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE! For insurance purposes, nonresidents using our paths or our park facilities must be accompanied by a resident of Oakwood East or they will be cited by Midwest City for a "trespassing" violation. Permission alone is no longer sufficient.
Over 100 trespassing letters have been sent to non-residents using our facilities last year. An additional 20+ letters were sent to residents and guests of residents since their tag information didn't show them living in Oakwood East, or we weren't always notified of a guest with a resident. Non-residents and a few residents thought getting tag numbers and finding out who was using our facilities was censorious. It is legal and the most economical way we could find to slow down an over whelming influx of unwanted and uninvited poachers. Our ponds are flood control ponds and some anglers mistakenly believe that the public is entitled access to these ponds. Our ponds are on private land and not open to public access. Many residents have turned in tag numbers. Two trespassers have ignored our letters and have received follow up letters from our attorney.
We now
have homes selling for over $200,000 in Oakwood East. The
Midwest City Police Report to "the board" each month
on crime statistics in our addition tell us through educating the public and the
board members that Oakwood East is a safe
community with minimal crime. Please continue to report tag numbers of
suspicious people in our
addition!
Our asphalt path is one mile in length.
Concern of Pets: A few of our residents are not using a leash on their dog. This is required by Midwest City ordinance. We see and hear on the news about people and other animals being hurt by a "gentle dog that wouldn't hurt anyone". Dogs are required to be on a leash and under control for several reasons. There have already been problems at the ponds with injury. Please comply with this law. Stray animals should be reported to the animal control, 427-6640.
